Securing a Reliable Power Future

Electrical infrastructure for AI-driven semiconductor manufacturing.

Electrical and Power
The Mission

Power infrastructure is under structural pressure

AI-driven giga-facilities demand extreme load densities at the same time data centres compete for the same grid capacity, the same transformers, and the same switchgear.

Equipment lead times now stretch years - and the industry's 20 GW draw in 2024 is set to double by 2030, faster than the grid can be permitted and built.

  • Competition with data centres for grid capacity and critical equipment drives transformer and switchgear shortages
  • Power quality risks - voltage sags, harmonics, and transients - cause downtime worth millions per event
  • Fabs are becoming quasi-utilities, shifting toward renewables, clean energy, and on-site generation including nuclear and microgrids

Power is no longer a background utility - it's the binding constraint on semiconductor capacity growth.

Power in Transition: From Efficiency to Self-Generation

The semiconductor industry drew 20 GW in 2024; at 12% annual growth that doubles by 2030 - faster than the grid can be permitted and built. Fabs are making power decisions now about future on-site generation, but in the short term millions of energy efficiency wins are needed.

Moderated by EPRI, this workshop showcases facility engineers, utilities, and supply chain experts sharing early successes in bridging the gap.

Why UltraFacility

The only place power is addressed in its full facility context.

UltraFacility 2025 workshop session
UltraFacility 2025 · Day Zero, Austin
  • Curated by the people who run the fabs. Intel, GlobalFoundries, Samsung Austin Semiconductor and Micron shape the agenda around real facility challenges.
  • 50+ non-commercial presentations, selected from 100+ abstracts by an independent committee. Data, not sales pitches.
  • Power, in context. Addressed alongside UPW, HVAC, chemicals and construction - the systems that depend on it.
  • Direct line to the specifiers. The one forum where power systems vendors meet the engineers specifying next-generation fab infrastructure.
