Thayalan Kulasingam is a highly accomplished and professionally qualified Chemical Engineer and Engineering Manager with over 25 years of international experience across the United States, Australia, and Singapore. His career spans a broad spectrum of roles in process engineering, operations management, project execution, and engineering leadership.
He currently serves as Director – Chemical & Slurry, UPW, and Wastewater Treatment Operations at GlobalFoundries in Malta, New York. In this role, Thayalan leads a multidisciplinary team of chemical engineers, scientists, and technicians in managing high-purity chemical systems, ultrapure water (UPW), and waste treatment operations—critical components of semiconductor manufacturing.
Thayalan has spearheaded numerous initiatives focused on operational excellence and efficiency improvements, resulting in measurable gains in system uptime, safety, and cost-effectiveness. Prior to joining GlobalFoundries, he led the design, construction, and commissioning of large-scale water and wastewater treatment plants, overseeing multidisciplinary teams throughout the project lifecycle.
Throughout his career, Thayalan has demonstrated strong technical acumen, strategic leadership, and a commitment to continuous improvement. He has successfully led cross-functional teams in root cause analysis, system hardening, and productivity enhancement initiatives.
Thayalan holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering and a Master’s degree in Technology Management.
